The First Grade Class presented the play "The Little Red Hen" to their parents on February 7, 2007.  There were two performances - 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM.  The class also baked a delicious cherry coffee cake that they served to their parents after the performances.

Great Show 1st Graders!
Martin Luther King's birthday was a reminder of his positive work.  Each child made a kindness coin that encouraged kind acts at home and school.  We also made a classroom Martin Luther King book.

Math in January consisted of practicing addition and subtraction, as well as learning about telling time to the hour and half hour.  We are learning how to count by 2's, 5's, and 9's.  We will also learn to count change to $1.00.

The class heard dozens of Jan Brett stories in story time, and practiced their letter-writing skills by writing her a letter.  She has been a source for many autographed posters through the years.  We will continue to practice letter writing in Feb.

The first grade class concluded their study of Europe in January.  We learned about Norway, England, and France.  The focus with France was on Monet and his water lily paintings, while the study of England was centered around listening to Beatle music.

Our Reading rodeo with the 2nd grade was a fun-filled day.  The chili that the first grade class made was great.  We made a collection of their recipes for chili into our own cookbook (for fun).  They read rodeo books with a second grade buddy, and had a melodrama, along with barrel racing and singing.

Next in our plans is a little Red Hen play, which we will present in Feb.
